1. ESSENCE
Essence is big skincare products in asian skincare, but what does essence do? essence essentially preps your skin for your next skincare product. So as long as your skin is basically damp your skin’s gonna still be ready and prepped for your next skincare product. Because when your skin is damp it’s more like a sponge and it’s gonna soak up all of those next ingradients.
And essence is essentially a hydrator whether it’s like very liquidy or a little bit more thick and sticky they’re a hydrator. If you’re gonna apply a really nice hydrator later on, then you probably don’t really need an essence. It’s jut a relly nice luxurious step in your skincare routine.
2. Toner
The whole purpose of a toner is to balance your skin’s pH level. So the minute you put water on your face you’re changing the pH level of your face. It’s basically something you don’t really need in your skincare routine.
And you can manage your pH level through products that essentially important to your skin. Like using a really good cleanser (which is basic skincare product) on your skin, that has a really nice pH level or gentle that gonna maintain your pH level.
So, as long as you’re not going really harsh and and really stripping your skin you don’t really need the toner. Exception when they’re gonna be treatment toners like something with salicylic acid or those are more like chemical exolliators and that’s definitely a diferent type of toner and it’s serving a whole different purposes.
But if it’s just spray toner or just a gentle toner that you’re gonna put on your skin with a cotton pad you don’t necessarily need it. AAlso old school toner wit stripping alcohols is big no.
3. MICELLAR WATER
This is another one that you might argue. But it’s actually skincare products that actually you don’t really need because it’s basically a hydrator, so if your skin is get moist enough from basic skincare products, I don’t think that you need it. Yeah but these are nice products to have.
Micellar water are really nice and so dope to get instant moist when you’re in a rush or just twanna a lil bit touch touch upespecilly if you get a good one that’s like more humectant based like the CeraVe.
The only reason why you would maybe need it is if you want to get those last traces of makeup of. Like your mascaraa that doesn’t completely come off with double cleanse then you may need micellar water.
4. EYE CREAM
Eye cream is just a nicely repackaged version of moisturizer. A true eye cream is just a moisturizer. they’re not changing the way they and the structure of the moisturizer. There isn’t big difference. But if they’re maybe have hydroquinone or retionl in them that’s different.
5. PORE REDUCING PRODUCT
I now the struggles with pores you guys. I know that the majority of you would like to have smaller pores. But the the problem is you can’t actually change the size of your pores.
There are 2 factores that makes the way it look : Pores are due to genetics and second it has a lot to do with aging. You can change the size of our pores it’s like trying to say i can change my height. But you can change the way it look with any kind of beauty products, what you can do is to make sure it look cleaner and just look smoother.
6. FACE MASKS
Face masks are truly a luxury item, they really are. If you have a good skin care routine you don’t need a face mask. If you’re exfolliating you don’t need a clay mask because a clay mask for instansce is gonna soak up excess oil, it’s gonna help declog your pores and loosen everything up. But if you’re exfolliating on a regular basis then you don’t need it. It just nice to pamper your skin every once in a while but you don’t really need it.
7. SPECIALIZED CREAM
You definitely don’t need specialized creams and and i mean specialzed is the creams that are made for just your hands. or just your feet or decollete or so. They’re just specialized and they’re just marketing. But it’s different if it’s have active ingradients like Anti aging ingradient in it, that’s definitely on different purposes.
8. CELLULITE & STRETCH MARK CREAMS
These are truly really marketed to our critict in us. We definitely don’t want stretch mark we deinitely dont want cellulite. and we all pretty much have it.
The problem is you can’t get rid of cellulite with a cream, you just absolutely can’t unless you go for treatment like laser treatmeant or something. If you’re gonna use a cream for stretch mark because it has some kind of active ingradient like retinol which wouldn’t be any differnt than the retinol that’s on your face.
You truly need to have a treatment like go to specialist for cellulite or your stretch mark. Even go to specialist can’t really get rid of them 100%.
9. LIP SCRUBS
Lip scrubs are super unnecesary for your lips. Your dead skin on your lips are easily to take off without any lip scrubs and you can do make your own scruber for your lips if you did have those fllaky lips, with ingradient that you have without damaging it.
If you’re really dealing with dry flaky lips my best advice is to get a warm washcloth and try to just gently get as much of the flakiness that you can, then use some kind of lip conditioner that’s a humectant based lip conditiioner to really get the hydration and seal it all in with a nice occlusive balm. That’s it.
10. HUMECTANT SERUMS
If there are no active ingradients in these serums and they’re just there to add some hydration to your skin but if you look it at you skincare product they have humectants in them so humectants it’s deinitely not necessary but it’s just nice to have.
